Week 3: If-clauses

A: I’m going to get a part-time job.

나 아르바이트 구할꺼야

B: Why? If you need some money, I’m sure your Mom or Dad will give you some.

왜? 너 용돈이 필요한 거라면 분명 부모님께서 주실꺼야.

A: Yeah, I know, but I want to earn my own money. If I get a part-time job now, I will earn a lot of money by the beginning of summer.

응 알아, 하지만 내 용돈은 내가 벌고 싶어. 내가 만약 지금 아르바이트를 구하면 여름초까지 돈을 많이 모을 수 있을 텐데.

B: If you take a part-time job, you won’t have enough time to study.

니가 만약 아르바이트를 하면 공부할 시간이 없을꺼야.

A: That’s true.

그건 그래.

B: If I had to choose between working and studying, I would choose studying.

만약 공부랑 일하는 것 중에 선택해야 한다면 난 공부를 선택하겠어.

A: Well, me too. But if I earn three thousand dollars, I will be able to spend a month vacationing in Hawaii.

음,, 나도. 그렇지만 내가 3000달라를 벌면, 하와이에서 한달간 방학을 보낼 수 있는데.

B: Well, if I spend all this time studying and I graduate from the university with honors, I could find a job in Hawaii and stay there as long as I want!

음,, 만약 내가 그시간을 모두 공부에 쏟아 우등으로 졸업하면 하와이에서 직업을 구해서 내가 원할때까지 머무를 수 있을꺼야!

Week 4: Phone Conversation Practice

A: Good Morning! Korea Christian University.

좋은아침입니다. 그리도대학교입니다.

B: Hello. I’d like to speak to Mr. Lim, please.

안녕하세요. 임교수님과 통화할 수 있나요?

A: I’m sorry. He’s in a meeting right now. Would you like to leave a message, or can I help you?

죄송합니다. 지금 회의중이십니다. 메모 남겨드릴까요? 아니면 제가 도울수 있을까요?

B: Yes, my name is Baharada Das, and I’m calling from India. I would like to know if my application for a scholarship at KCU has been approved.

네, 저는 바하라다 다스이구요, 인도에서 전화걸었습니다. KCU에 지원한 제 장학금 신청서가 승인받았는지 알수 있을까요?

A: I see.  Let me check it out and I will call you back in a few minutes.  May I have your phone number please?

그럼요. 확인해 본 후 바로 연락드리겠습니다. 연락처 알수 있을까요?

B: Oh, here it is: 013-465-8809.

A: All right. Let me read that back: it’s zero, one, three, four, six, five, double eight, nine, zero, right?

네. 다시 한번 확인해 보겠습니다. 0,1,3,4,6,5,8두번,9,0 맞나요?

B: Actually, it should be double eight, zero, nine.

음, 8두번 하고 0,9 입니다.

A: Double eight, zero, nine, all right. I’ll call you back as soon as possible.

8두번하고 0, 9번이요? 네, 최대한 빨리 연락드리겠습니다.
